Why People Don't Talk About Mental Health

Why People Don't Talk About Mental Health

Why is it so hard to talk about mental health? Why is it so hard to come forward with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, depression or anxiety? These are reasonable questions with a reasonable answer.

The stigma of mental illness keeps many people who are struggling with a mental health condition quiet. They’re afraid to speak up for fear that they will be judged or constantly defined by their mental health.

In the comments, I hope you’ll share thoughts and experiences with mental health stigma. Are you (have you ever been) secretive about your mental health because you’re afraid of how people will judge you?
