What is DBT? Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a type of talking treatment. It’s based on Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), but has been adapted to help people who experience emotions very intensely.
DBT skills training will teach clients new skills to help them when they feel emotionally dysregulated or want to use self-harming or life threatening behaviours to cope with trauma.
Clients who attend often have a diagnosis of borderline
personality disorder and struggle to regulate their emotions.
DBT Skills will teach:
Mindfulness Skills – increasing self-awareness to help a person cope
Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills – feeling able to communicate with people more effectively and improve relationships
Emotion Regulation Skills – learning how to understand emotions and how they affect behaviours
Distress Tolerance Skills – learn ability to tolerate distress and to cope in a crisis
Patients Can Start the DBT Course at The Beginning of Each New Module
We have several weekly DBT Skills Sessions
