DBT Family Therapy

The support of friends and family is crucial for patients who are undergoing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

It is for this reason that we run a DBT family therapy group online, which friends and family of patients are free to join and participate in for the duration of each treatment programme. With a fully supportive environment in which to practise the new techniques that are learned during each treatment session, it is considerably easier for patients to overcome the challenges posed by Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in their day-to-day lives.

What to Expect From Our DBT Family Therapy Group

Some friends and family may be reticent to join our family group sessions, especially if they are not sure what to expect. With this in mind, we would like to assure participants in our online group that confidentiality is a priority and is maintained at all times. We know how important your privacy is to you and it is just as important to us: we take all necessary steps to safeguard your personal information.

Our DBT family therapy group provides a judgement-free environment in which friends and relatives of patients can discuss the issues they face on a daily basis and how best they can provide the support that BPD sufferers require. The group therapy can be very empowering for family members as it removes the feeling of helplessness that is often experienced, replacing it with tried and tested techniques that can be used to support the patient and aid their recovery.

If you decide to join our family therapy group, you will be under no pressure to share information that you are not comfortable revealing to others. You can use the group as additional support throughout the treatment programme, dropping in whenever you wish to ask questions or share your own experiences with other group members.
