What Happens After Your Assessment?

 

The assessment is a one-off session that also take place online, during which you will discuss your condition with one of our qualified counsellors or therapists. After you have been assessed and we are more familiar with the precise nature of your condition, we will be able to tell you if we think that DBT in Plymouth would be beneficial. In the event that you decide to enrol in a course of therapy, we will credit the cost of your assessment against your first invoice for treatment. You will then attend weekly Zoom group sessions, in which you will learn new and more effective ways to regulate your emotions and cope with your symptoms.

How Our DBT in Plymouth Works

 

There are 4 core modules in DBT, each of which will you will cover in your weekly Zoom sessions. In addition to the weekly sessions, you will be able to access personal and family support groups, all of which are designed to help you progress more rapidly and assimilate the new skills you learn.

The first DBT module is Mindfulness and the reason it comes first is because it is in this module that you will learn how to remain ‘in the moment’, even at times of emotional distress. It is only by remaining in the present that you can observe your current behaviour and discover ways in which you can change it in the future. Subsequent modules deal with emotional control, building healthy relationships and coping with crises.
