DBT Durham

Over the last 10 years, we have helped thousands of people in the UK to manage the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) more effectively and, as a consequence, to lead more satisfying and balanced lives.

Personalised DBT Therapy in Durham

We have been able to do this thanks to our in-depth knowledge of the theory and application of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). DBT is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is designed to help patients change their thinking patterns and take control of the way they react to potentially distressing events and situations. We are pleased to be able to offer DBT in Durham to both adolescent and adult BPD sufferers, via small Zoom groups. If you would like to enrol in a treatment programme, please feel free to book an assessment now.

What to Expect From DBT in Durham

The main component of our DBT programmes is a series of weekly skills group sessions, held online via Zoom.  Each programme covers all of the key concepts of DBT, which are arranged into 4 core modules. In addition to the weekly skills group sessions, the fee for your treatment programme will include:

  • Crisis Survival Coaching – If you find yourself struggling to use the skills you are learning and you feel that you are losing control, you can contact a qualified therapist in between your weekly sessions. Your therapist will coach you in the use of the techniques and skills you have acquired, helping you to take back control.
  • Parent and Partners Support Group – Your family can use our support group to find out how best to help you while you are completing your DBT in Durham.
  • WhatsApp Group – Whilst participating in the weekly skills group meetings, you will have access to our WhatsApp Group, a peer-led group that enables patients to discuss their treatment with others and share what they have learned.
  • Aftercare Group – After completing your DBT course, you can join our aftercare group. Running for 10 weeks, this group meets on a weekly basis to learn how to use the skills they have acquired more effectively.
